At the southern entrance to Nimmitabel, a distinctive cream-colored archway sign welcomes visitors, proudly displaying the town's elevation of 1070 meters. This sign, set within a green-painted pipe framework and mounted on a stone base, features an illustration of the historic Old Mill, symbolizing Nimmitabel's rich heritage. Established around 1830, Nimmitabel is renowned for its historic buildings, including the Old Mill and Geldmacher House, and its picturesque setting on the Monaro Plains. The town's name, derived from the Aboriginal term for 'Dividing of Waters,' reflects its unique geographical position.
