
Hill 60, located in the Benarkin State Forest near Blackbutt, Queensland, is a memorial site honoring both World War I soldiers and local forestry workers. Established in 1996, it features a small fire observation tower and a commemorative plaque unveiled by Peter Slipper, Member for Fisher. The plaque was unveiled by Peter Slipper, Member for Fisher, and the Queensland Mounted Infantry Brigade staged a re-enactment, storming Hill 60 and erecting a flag next to the fire tower. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views over the expansive hoop pine plantations surrounding Benarkin. To visit, obtain a permit from the Department of Natural Resources in Blackbutt.
