Her Majesty's Theatre, affectionately known as Her Maj, is Australia's oldest continuously operating live theatre, having opened in 1875. Located at 17 Lydiard Street South, Ballarat, VIC 3350, this historic venue boasts a beautifully renovated double-balconied auditorium, seamlessly blending comfort with elegance. Equipped with state-of-the-art theatre technology, Her Maj hosts an annual season of touring professional theatre productions, showcasing performances from leading Australian theatre companies. Additionally, it serves as a cherished community hub, accommodating local amateur productions, including musical comedies, school concerts, and ballet recitals. Since 1965, the theatre has been home to the Royal South Street Competitions, Australia's largest and longest-running eisteddfod, which occupies the building between mid-August and early November each year. Owned and operated by the City of Ballarat since 1990, Her Maj presents approximately 300 performances annually, with tickets available through MajesTix, the theatre's box office.
