Henty Dunes, located 14 km north of Strahan along the Zeehan-Strahan Road, are Tasmania's largest moving sand dunes, some reaching up to 30 meters high and extending 15 km along the coast. Formed by the Roaring Forties winds, these dunes offer a unique desert-like landscape amid the west coast's rainforests. Visitors can enjoy sandboarding, with toboggans available for hire in Strahan, and a 1.5-hour return walk through the dunes leads to Ocean Beach, Tasmania's longest beach. A shaded picnic area is available, but there are no water or toilet facilities.
