Hampton Township Ruins, located northeast of Redruth Gaol in Burra, South Australia, offers a glimpse into the area's rich mining history. Established in the late 1800s to support the local mining community, the township once featured 30 miners' cottages and a Bible Christian Chapel. By 1960, it was abandoned, leaving behind stone residences, fences, and walls that outline the original village layout. The site also showcases remnants of fruit trees planted by early residents, now coexisting with native gums. Visitors can explore the well-marked walking trail, which includes interpretive signage detailing the lives of former residents. Access to the ruins is included in the Burra Heritage Passport, available at the Burra and Goyder Visitor Information Centre.
