Hammond, located in the southern Flinders Ranges of South Australia, is a historic town established in 1879 along the Bellaratta Creek. Named after William Henry Hammond Jervois, the eldest son of Governor William Jervois, it was once a bustling hub with a railway station on the Peterborough-Quorn line, facilitating connections to Adelaide, Port Pirie, and Broken Hill. The town's heritage includes the 1886 stone villa, originally the Bank of Adelaide, which has been tastefully renovated and previously served as a bed and breakfast and restaurant. Today, Hammond offers a tranquil retreat with its rich history and scenic surroundings.
