Gunditj Mirring Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation

Gunditj Mirring Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation (GMTOAC) is dedicated to preserving and promoting the cultural heritage and rights of the Gunditjmara people in southwest Victoria. Established in 2005, GMTOAC serves as the Registered Native Title Body Corporate for the Gunditjmara community, managing native title rights and interests. The corporation also functions as a Registered Aboriginal Party under the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006, overseeing cultural heritage matters. A significant achievement includes the 2019 UNESCO World Heritage listing of the Budj Bim Cultural Landscape, highlighting the area's ancient aquaculture systems. GMTOAC's initiatives encompass cultural heritage management, land justice, and the promotion of Indigenous ecological knowledge, ensuring the Gunditjmara people's enduring connection to their ancestral lands.
