Located just 4 km east of Ararat, Green Hill Lake offers a serene retreat for campers and outdoor enthusiasts. The campground features free camping with no designated spots or powered sites, allowing visitors to choose their preferred location within the camping area. Amenities include drinking water, fire pits, picnic tables, chairs, a playground, exercise equipment, a pontoon, boat ramps, an RV dump point, and hot water showers. The lake is well-stocked with trout and redfin, providing excellent fishing opportunities from the jetty, boat, or shoreline. Walking and cycling tracks connect the lake to Ararat, and two picnic areas with gas BBQs and covered pavilions are available. Camping is free, with donation boxes on-site to support maintenance and improvements. Friendly rangers are available most days to provide information about local events and attractions. Ararat offers a vibrant shopping center, numerous restaurants, health facilities, and sporting and leisure amenities, including heated and outdoor swimming pools.
