
Great Lake, also known as yingina, is a vast freshwater lake situated 1,034 meters above sea level on Tasmania's Central Plateau. Spanning approximately 176 square kilometers, it is Australia's second-largest freshwater lake. The lake is renowned for its excellent trout fishing, offering both brown and rainbow trout in mixed packs. The surrounding area provides opportunities for boating, hiking, and camping, with facilities available at nearby towns such as Miena and Poatina. Access is via the A5 Highland Lakes Road, which offers scenic drives through the region.
