Nestled within the Adelaide metropolitan area, the Cobbler Creek No.1 Slate Mine, also known as the Golden Grove Slate Mine, offers a unique glimpse into South Australia's mining history. Active between 1850 and 1865, this site primarily extracted slate from the Saddleworth Formation, supplying building materials for local construction. Additionally, limestone mined at the portal was burned to produce lime for mortar. Today, the area remains open ground adjacent to a small creek, serving as a recreational space that reflects its rich industrial heritage.
