Designed by architect Edmund Wright, the building originally served as the Glenelg Institute, featuring lecture rooms, a concert hall, and a library. In 1887, it became the Glenelg Town Hall. Today, it houses the Bay Discovery Centre, a social history museum celebrating South Australia's cultural heritage, and the Glenelg Visitor Information Outlet, offering brochures and maps about local attractions. The Town Hall also hosts bi-weekly council meetings.
