Gilgandra

Gilgandra, known as the "Town of Windmills," is a charming rural community situated at the junction of the Newell, Oxley, and Castlereagh Highways in central-western New South Wales. Approximately 432 km northwest of Sydney, it serves as a service center to a mixed farming area focused primarily on cropping, sheep, and cattle. The town's rich history includes the 1915 Coo-ee March, where 35 men marched nearly 500 km to Sydney to draw attention to the need for World War I recruitment.
