Located in Queensland's Bowen Basin, approximately 12 kilometers south of Middlemount and 272 kilometers northwest of Rockhampton, the Foxleigh Coal Mine is an open-cut operation producing benchmark quality, low volatile pulverized coal injection (PCI) coal for the export market. Established in 1999, the mine has an annual production capacity of around 3.1 million tonnes. Mining is conducted using the truck and excavator method, with raw coal processed at the mine's coal handling and preparation plant. Product coal is transported 27 kilometers by private haul road to a dedicated train loading facility, then railed 280 kilometers to the Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal at the Port of Hay Point near Mackay. The mine is jointly owned by QMetco Limited (70%), POSCO Australia Pty Ltd (20%), and Nippon Steel Australia Pty. Limited (10%).
