Fossil Island, located in Cambridge Gulf, Western Australia, is an uninhabited island covering approximately 4,157 hectares. Situated about 35 kilometers north of Wyndham, it features a maximum elevation of approximately 235 meters. The island is home to endangered flora such as Brachychiton incanus and a variety of birdlife, including the rufous night heron, little eagle, brown falcon, whimbrel, tawny frogmouth, great bowerbird, and rainbow bee-eater. The agile wallaby is commonly sighted on the island. Fossil Island was named by Philip Parker King in 1819 during his exploration of the area.
