Perched 300 meters above sea level, Fort Bourke Hill Lookout offers panoramic views of Cobar and its surroundings. Visitors can observe the open pit and entrance to the underground New Cobar Gold Mine from a well-constructed viewing platform. The rich Cobar mineral belt is clearly visible in a straight line from north to south. To reach the lookout, turn off the Kidman Way, two kilometers south of Cobar, drive past the water tanks to the radio towers, and park in the car park. A short walk leads to the viewing platform, providing one of the best views of Cobar, particularly at sunset.
