The Flood Plain Lower Ringarooma River Wetlands, located in northeastern Tasmania, Australia, encompass a diverse ecosystem of marshlands, lagoons, and estuaries. Designated as a Ramsar Wetland of International Importance in 1982, this 3,519-hectare site is home to threatened plant communities like freshwater aquatic sedgeland and Melaleuca ericifolia swamp forest. It also supports endangered species such as the green and gold frog and the vulnerable fairy tern. The wetlands offer vital hydrological services, including floodwater retention and sediment trapping, and hold cultural significance with evidence of Aboriginal use. Current activities include regulated waterfowl hunting and livestock grazing.
