Established in 1827 as a convict station, Fingal is a historic town nestled in the heart of Tasmania's Fingal Valley. Surrounded by the towering Stacks Bluff to the north and the Eastern Tiers to the south, it boasts a rich heritage and vibrant rural traditions. Visitors can explore well-preserved 19th-century architecture along Talbot Street, including the Holder Brothers Store and the former Tasmania Hotel, now serving as the local Tourist Centre. Nature enthusiasts can visit the Evercreech Forest Reserve to witness the world's tallest white gum trees, known as the 'White Knights,' or take a short drive to the stunning Mathinna Falls. The annual Fingal Valley Festival, held each March, celebrates local traditions with events like the World Coal Shovelling Championships, wood chopping, and roof bolting. Fingal is approximately 72 km east of Launceston and 150 km north-east of Hobart.
