Ernaballa Waterhole, situated near Pukatja in South Australia's Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands, is a significant water source in the Musgrave Ranges. For the Pitjantjatjara people, knowledge of such waterholes is vital for survival, especially during dry seasons when other sources may dry up. These rock holes, known as Tjukula, are often protected by constructions of rocks and spinifex to prevent contamination from feral animals. The deep understanding of these water sources is passed down through generations, reflecting the community's intimate connection with their land.
