The Drysdale River, spanning approximately 432 kilometers in Western Australia's Kimberley region, originates in the Caroline Ranges and flows northward into Napier Broome Bay near Kalumburu. Its course features permanent pools adorned with Indigenous Australian art, notably the Bradshaw paintings along cliff faces. The river is renowned for its majestic waterfalls, including Eagle Falls, Solea Falls, and Bango Falls. The surrounding Drysdale River National Park encompasses diverse landscapes such as open woodlands, gorges, cliffs, and creeks, providing habitat for rare plants and over 100 bird species. Access to the park is challenging, requiring prior permission from the Kalumburu Aboriginal Corporation, and is best undertaken by air due to the rugged terrain and absence of public roads.
