Cradle Mountain, TAS

Nestled on the northwestern shore of Dove Lake in Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park, the Dove Lake Boatshed is a historic timber structure built in 1940 by the park's first ranger, Lionel Connell. Constructed primarily from King Billy pine, the boatshed once housed Huon pine boats that ferried visitors around the lake until the 1960s. Today, it stands as an iconic photographic subject, offering a picturesque backdrop of Cradle Mountain. Accessible via the Dove Lake Circuit, a 5.7-kilometer loop trail, the boatshed remains largely unaltered since its restoration in the early 1980s.
