Standing 84 meters tall, Devils Gate Dam is one of the world's thinnest concrete arch dams, completed in 1969 as part of Tasmania's Mersey–Forth hydroelectric scheme. It forms Lake Barrington, a 20-kilometer-long reservoir renowned for its world-class rowing course, which hosted the 1990 World Rowing Championships. The area offers a variety of recreational activities, including waterskiing, fishing, rowing, swimming, and walking. Visitors can also enjoy a picnic area near the dam, accessible via Barrington on the B14 from Devonport.
