Dampier's Landing/Sammy's Well Campground, situated in the northeast of Dirk Hartog Island National Park, offers a secluded wilderness camping experience accessible exclusively by four-wheel drive. This single campsite accommodates up to three vehicles, though trailers are not recommended. The area holds historical significance as the landing site of William Dampier in 1699, who made the first scientific collection of Australian plants here.
