Located 25 km west of Narrabri, the Paul Wild Observatory is home to the Australia Telescope Compact Array, a network of six 22-metre radio antennas. Five of these antennas are mounted on a three-kilometre east-west railway track, with the sixth positioned three kilometres further west. This setup allows astronomers to study phenomena such as star formation, supernovae, and black hole jets. The observatory's Visitors Centre offers self-guided tours, providing insights into radio astronomy and the site's history. Open daily from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, admission is free.
