Cowcowing Lakes

Cowcowing Lakes, situated approximately 26 kilometers north of Wyalkatchem on the Wyalkatchem Koorda Road, is a vast saltpan spanning around 15,000 hectares. This expansive landscape undergoes seasonal transformations, transitioning from a wetland teeming with salt-tolerant vegetation to a dry, cracked salt crust during the summer months. The lake's dynamic ecosystem serves as a natural conduit, returning salts deposited by rainfall back to the ocean. While the area offers a unique natural spectacle, visitors should note that it lacks facilities and requires self-sufficiency for activities such as camping.
