Cowcowing Lake, situated approximately 26 kilometers north of Wyalkatchem on the Wyalkatchem Koorda Road, spans about 15,000 hectares. This expansive saltpan undergoes seasonal transformations, becoming a wetland during wetter months and drying into a salt crust or dusty plain in summer. The lake's name, derived from the Aboriginal term "Gow gow eeh lake," remains of uncertain meaning. The surrounding area is characterized by dense salt-tolerant vegetation, offering a unique landscape for visitors.
