Cowcowing Lakes

Cowcowing Lakes, situated approximately 26 kilometers north of Wyalkatchem on the Wyalkatchem Koorda Road, is a vast saltpan spanning around 15,000 hectares. This seasonal lake undergoes dramatic transformations, from a wetland teeming with salt-tolerant vegetation to a dry, cracked salt crust during the summer months. The area is a haven for birdwatchers, especially during migratory seasons. While the lake offers a unique natural spectacle, visitors should note that facilities are limited, and self-sufficiency is recommended for those planning to camp or explore the area.
