Cowcowing Lakes

Cowcowing Lakes, situated approximately 26 kilometers north of Wyalkatchem on the Wyalkatchem Koorda Road, is a vast saltpan spanning about 15,000 hectares. This seasonal lake undergoes dramatic transformations, filling with water during wetter months and drying into a salt crust or dusty plain in summer. Surrounded by dense, salt-tolerant vegetation, it serves as a natural reservoir, slowly returning salts to the ocean. The area is also home to the historic Cowcowing Cemetery, offering a glimpse into the region's pioneering past.
