Cowcowing Lakes

Cowcowing Lakes, situated approximately 26 kilometers north of Wyalkatchem on the Wyalkatchem Koorda Road, is a vast saltpan spanning around 15,000 hectares. This seasonal lake undergoes dramatic transformations, from a wetland teeming with salt-tolerant vegetation to a dry, cracked salt crust during the summer months. The area is a haven for birdwatchers, especially during migratory seasons, and offers a unique landscape for photography enthusiasts. While the lake is accessible for camping, visitors should come prepared, as facilities are limited, and self-sufficiency is essential.
