Cowcowing Lakes, situated approximately 26 kilometers north of Wyalkatchem on the Wyalkatchem Koorda Road, is a vast saltpan spanning about 15,000 hectares. This seasonal lake undergoes dramatic transformations, filling with water during wetter periods and drying into a salt crust or dusty plain in summer. Surrounded by dense, salt-tolerant vegetation, the area offers a unique landscape for nature enthusiasts. Historically, the lake's name was recorded as "Gow gow eeh lake" by early explorers in 1854, later changed to Cowcowing Lake.
