Established in April 1972, Copperhannia Nature Reserve spans 3,497 hectares in New South Wales' Central Tablelands. This rugged mountain range, situated within the Wyangala Dam catchment, features steep ridges carved by Hell Hole Creek and Little Hell Hole Creek. The reserve protects a significant remnant of woodland with a sparse understorey adjacent to the Abercrombie River. Notably, it lies at the junction of the Hill End trough and Molong Geanticline, giving rise to the unique Copperhannia Thrust.
