Cooke Plains is a rural settlement in South Australia's Coorong District, situated approximately 101 kilometers southeast of Adelaide. Located along the Dukes Highway and the former Adelaide–Melbourne railway line, the town is midway between Tailem Bend and Coomandook. Although the railway station ceased operations in 1990, the area retains its historical charm. The town features several businesses and the Soldier's Memorial Hall, which bears the inscription "Cooke's Plains" in its stonework. Originally a private subdivision named after pastoralists James and Archie Cooke, Cooke Plains now encompasses the former government town of Bedford, which was surveyed in 1871 and ceased to exist in 1960.
