Chowilla Regional Reserve

Chowilla Regional Reserve, located approximately 250 km northeast of Adelaide, encompasses over 75,000 hectares of floodplains and wetlands along the Murray River. This expansive area features majestic river red gum forests and diverse aquatic habitats, providing a sanctuary for native species such as the Murray cod, regent parrot, and southern bell frog. Recognized as a Riverland Wetland of International Importance under the Ramsar Convention, the reserve offers opportunities for secluded bush camping, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, and bird watching, all amidst its tranquil waterways and rich biodiversity.
