Carss Cottage Museum, nestled within Carss Bush Park, is a heritage-listed sandstone cottage built in 1865 by Scottish cabinetmaker William Carss. As the oldest standing building in the Kogarah area, it now serves as a museum managed by the Kogarah Historical Society, showcasing local history through changing displays and artifacts. Visitors can explore exhibits ranging from the immigration experience to Kogarah's notable figures and lifestyles of the 19th and early 20th centuries. The museum is open every Sunday afternoon, with additional tours available by appointment. Admission is $5 for adults, with accompanying children admitted free. Guided tours, including a talk on the history of the cottage and the Carss family, as well as an optional walk in the park, are available for $5 per person. Special tours for school groups can be arranged at $2 per child. The museum is wheelchair accessible and offers facilities for visitors with limited mobility.
