
Carnarvon National Park, located in Queensland's central highlands, showcases towering sandstone cliffs, vibrant side gorges, diverse flora and fauna, and significant Aboriginal rock art. Visitors can explore various walking tracks, including the Nature Trail, Mickey Creek Gorge, Boolimba Bluff, Moss Garden, Amphitheatre, and Boowinda Gorge. The park offers camping facilities in the Carnarvon Gorge visitor area during the Easter, June-July, and September-October Queensland school holidays, with Big Bend camping area open year-round. The Carnarvon Great Walk, an 87-kilometre trail, provides a remote and beautiful landscape of sandstone cliffs, tablelands, and shaded side-gorges. Access to the park is via a sealed road suitable for most vehicles, with unsealed roads requiring a 4WD for other sections. The park is approximately 600 km northwest of Brisbane.
