Cape Le Grand Beach

Le Grand Beach, located within Cape Le Grand National Park, offers a pristine stretch of white sand and clear turquoise waters, ideal for swimming, snorkeling, fishing, and boating. The beach is accessible via a gravel track leading to a firm, compacted sand surface suitable for four-wheel-drive vehicles. An informal pathway connects the parking area to the back edge of the beach. Flush toilets are available, and a sheltered food preparation area with gas barbecue, dishwashing sink, and picnic tables is provided. Camping is available at Le Grand Beach Campground, nestled behind the sand dunes with distant views of island peaks. Bookings are essential, and facilities include unpowered campsites, flush toilets, and showers (hot water not guaranteed). Pets are not permitted, and campfires are prohibited. The beach serves as the western trailhead for the Le Grand Coastal Trail, a challenging 20-kilometer hike offering panoramic views of the coastal plain and surrounding peaks. Visitors are advised to exercise caution when launching small boats from the beach due to potential hazards.
