Perched at the tip of the Fleurieu Peninsula, Cape Jervis Lighthouse has guided vessels through Backstairs Passage since 1871. The original lighthouse, a 23-foot tower with a fixed white light, was replaced in 1972 by the current 18-meter inverted pyramid structure. Standing 22 meters above sea level, it boasts a range of 16 nautical miles. Visitors can view the original lighthouse foundation near the current tower. The lighthouse grounds are open year-round, though the tower is not accessible to the public.
