Cattana Wetlands Environmental Park, located on Dunne Road in Smithfield, is an 80-hectare nature reserve approximately 20 kilometers north of Cairns. Once a sugarcane farm and sand mining quarry, it has been transformed into a haven for diverse flora and fauna. Visitors can explore a 420-meter boardwalk through a feather palm forest, observe freshwater and saltwater lakes, and enjoy abundant plant and birdlife. Amenities include picnic areas, barbecues, toilets, bird hides, and a boardwalk. The park is open daily from 5:30 am to 7:00 pm, with free entry. Dogs, except registered support animals, are not permitted.
