Established in 1978, Cairns BMX Club is one of Australia's largest BMX clubs, located on Scott Street in Cairns, behind the showgrounds. The club features a premier BMX track, excellent spectator facilities, and a volunteer-run canteen. The racing season typically runs from late January to early December, with events every Friday night, weather permitting, and additional races on Sundays if needed. Practice sessions are held on Tuesdays for Sprockets and Aged Riders, and on Friday nights for Mini-Wheelers and Mini-Sprockets. All riders must be licensed through Auscycling, with a free 4-week trial available for newcomers. The club encourages community involvement and appreciates volunteers and officials for races, gates, and working bees. Closed-toe shoes are mandatory on the track.
