Cadell Training Centre

Cadell Training Centre, located in the Riverland region of South Australia, is a low-security prison farm dedicated to inmate rehabilitation through vocational training and community service. The centre operates a dairy farm with a herd of 290 cattle, producing 1,800 to 1,900 litres of milk and 900 kilograms of cream weekly. These products supply other correctional facilities and local businesses, while excess milk is donated to charitable organizations. Inmates also engage in citrus and olive cultivation, contributing to the local economy. The centre emphasizes restorative justice by involving prisoners in community projects, including environmental work and assisting during natural disasters. Opened in 1960, Cadell Training Centre continues to focus on preparing inmates for successful reintegration into society.
