Nestled in Tasmania's Central Highlands, Butlers Gorge Power Station harnesses the flow from Lake King William to generate 12.2 MW of hydroelectric power. Commissioned in 1951, this facility features a single Francis turbine and contributes approximately 684 GWh annually to the state's energy grid. The station's design includes a 125 kVA diesel generator for backup power. Water discharged from the station flows through conduits to Nieterana mini-hydro, Tarraleah Power Station, or returns to the Derwent River via Wally's Weir.
