Established in 1984, Burrinjuck Nature Reserve spans 5,382 hectares of rugged terrain, featuring diverse forest ecosystems with blue gums, peppermints, red stringybarks, and box trees. The reserve is home to threatened species like the yass daisy, crimson spider orchid, wee jasper grevillea, gang-gang cockatoo, and powerful owl. Visitors can enjoy walking and bird watching, though there are no formal tracks or vehicle access. The name "Burrinjuck" is believed to derive from the Aboriginal words "Booren Yiack," meaning "precipitous mountain," referring to the peak in the west.
