Established in 1956, the Burnside Symphony Orchestra offers amateur musicians the opportunity to perform major symphonic works and provides aspiring conductors and soloists with experience in a full orchestra setting. Rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings at the Burnside Town Hall, 401 Greenhill Road, Tusmore. The orchestra presents four concerts annually in the Burnside Ballroom, often supporting local charities such as Save the Children and the Royal District Nursing Society. Membership is open to instrumentalists with a reasonable standard of playing, particularly string players.
