Bunya Mountains National Park, established in 1908, is Queensland's second-oldest national park, covering 19,600 hectares. It features the world's largest stand of ancient bunya pines, some over 600 years old and 25 meters tall. The park offers over 35 kilometers of walking tracks, ranging from short strolls to 10-kilometer hikes, traversing diverse landscapes including rainforest, eucalypt forests, and grasslands. Visitors can enjoy camping at Dandabah, Westcott, and Burtons Well, each equipped with picnic areas and facilities. The park is home to about 120 bird species and numerous mammals, frogs, and reptiles. Access is via steep, narrow roads; caravans and large vehicles are not recommended.
