Venue

Buninyong, VIC

Established in 1892, the Buninyong Butter Factory was a cooperative that began operations in the old courthouse complex adjacent to the Botanic Gardens. In 1908, it relocated to a two-storey brick building on the corner of Cornish and Forrest Streets, strategically positioned near the railway. The factory processed cream from local farmers, who transported it by train from surrounding areas. Over time, the factory expanded, and in 1926, it was acquired by the Wallace Dairy. During World War II, the building was repurposed by the Army for storage. After the war, the structure was destroyed by fire, and the site now hosts a Pre-School and Infant Welfare center.
