
Buku-Larrŋgay Mulka Centre, located in Yirrkala, is the Indigenous community-controlled art centre of Northeast Arnhem Land. Established in 1976, it represents over 300 Yolŋu artists from Yirrkala and surrounding homelands. The centre comprises two divisions: the Yirrkala Art Centre, which exhibits and sells contemporary art, and The Mulka Project, a digital production studio and museum. Visitors can explore a diverse collection of bark paintings, woven works, larrakitj (memorial poles), yidaki (didgeridoos), and more. The museum houses significant works, including the Yirrkala Church Panels and a collection illustrating clan law. The centre also features a printmaking workshop and a retail shop offering unique art pieces. Operating Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, entry is free.
