Botany Cemetery

Established in 1888, Botany Cemetery, now known as Eastern Suburbs Memorial Park, is a historic site in Matraville, New South Wales. It encompasses over 29 acres of serene parkland, offering a tranquil environment for reflection and remembrance. The cemetery is renowned for its Pioneer Memorial Park, which houses 746 historic headstones relocated from the Devonshire Street Cemetery in 1901. Notable interments include Mary Reibey, a prominent businesswoman, and Arthur Stace, famed for inscribing "Eternity" across Sydney. The park also features the Eastern Suburbs Crematorium, established in 1938, and serves as a significant heritage landmark in the region.
