Border Ranges, NSW

The Booyong walking track in Border Ranges National Park offers a 9 km one-way journey through lush rainforest, retracing historic logging trails. Starting from Sheepstation Creek or Forest Tops campgrounds, the track features majestic booyong trees, birds nest ferns, and lilies growing from old stumps. It's an excellent spot for birdwatching; keep an eye out for the regent bowerbird, green catbird, and the elusive black-breasted button-quail. For an added adventure, consider the picturesque Rosewood loop detour. The track is clearly signposted and includes short steep hills and many steps. Allow 5-6 hours for the walk. Remember to bring drinking water, a hat, and sunscreen. Park entry fees apply.
