Black River

Black River is a tranquil locality in Tasmania's North West region, approximately 46 km northwest of Wynyard. The area is renowned for its secluded campground within the Peggs Beach Conservation Area, offering visitors a serene retreat among coastal vegetation. The campground features basic facilities, including pit toilets and a hybrid toilet, with no powered sites available. Water from the campground tank should be boiled for at least three minutes or treated before drinking. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis, with payment via a self-registration deposit box on-site. Visitors can enjoy activities such as fishing, kayaking, and birdwatching, with opportunities to spot species like white-bellied sea eagles and wedge-tailed eagles. The area is also dog and horse-friendly, allowing for exploration along the beach and coastal trails.
