Dunedoo, NSW

Located approximately 200 meters southwest of Birriwa Homestead along the Castlereagh Highway, the Birriwa Private Cemetery is a small, enclosed site with a wire mesh fence. Established between 1865 and 1880, it is the final resting place for up to ten individuals, including Senior Constable John Ward, who was fatally wounded during an arrest in 1865. The cemetery is situated near the level crossing where the Gwabegar railway line intersects the highway, adjacent to a large grain silo. Visitors are advised to seek permission before visiting.
