South Walker Creek Mine, situated 35 km west of Nebo in Queensland's Bowen Basin, is a significant open-cut coal mining operation. It produces approximately 3.2 million tonnes of marketable coal annually, primarily suitable for Pulverised Coal Injection (PCI). The mine is equipped with an 8.4 million tonnes per annum coal handling and processing plant, along with two Marion 8050 draglines and a fleet of excavators, dozers, and haul trucks. In August 2021, BHP Mitsui Coal (BMC) entered into a Native Title Project Agreement with the Barada Barna Aboriginal Corporation, aiming to deliver immediate and intergenerational benefits to the Barada Barna people.
